Carefully integrated luminaires support a contemporary workplace vision for STGM Architecture.
Situated within a historic building in Old Montréal, STGM Architects’ office is a perfect example of how contemporary workplace design can thrive in a historic setting. To help realize the vision, Lumenwerx partnered with the design team to develop a lighting strategy that balances architectural expression, performance, and functionality throughout the newly redesigned office.
A key element of the strategy is the Squero pendant. Installed above the boardroom table, Squero’s slim linear form extends the length of the space, providing comfortable, low-glare illumination while reinforcing the room’s geometric design. Less than two inches wide and finished in sleek black, the pendant creates a striking contrast against the exposed white ceiling, adding a sense of refinement and detail to the room. The same design language extends into smaller offices, where the pendants provide ambient illumination, their black housings creating a contrast against the restrained grey palette.
Across open workspaces, Cava pendants deliver a primary layer of ambient illumination, complementing the task lighting on the desks below. With their distinctive housing, the pendants introduce an additional architectural element, creating the kind of visual interest one would expect from an architect’s office.
Together, this simple yet effective lighting strategy gives the STGM office a contemporary yet timeless feel. The lighting feels naturally woven into the architectural experience, creating a harmonious environment that reflects the same thoughtful principles the firm brings to its own client projects.
