At HKS’s Washington, D.C. office, lighting reflects a tangible commitment to workplace performance, environmental responsibility and employee well-being. Collaborating with the design team, Lumenwerx helped create a layered lighting strategy to support the company’s goal of achieving LEED Platinum and WELL Platinum certification while contributing to the overall look and feel of the space.
As elegant as it is functional, the lighting scheme integrates ambient, architectural and focused illumination using several of our luminaire collections. Notably, Via Perimeter and Evoq fixtures work in harmony at the edge of a bold geometric ceiling pattern, creating a continuous wash of light that adds drama to the design overhead.
Across an expansive central social hub, Ubik pendants are arranged in a satisfying ceiling grid, establishing a visual cadence that draws sightlines through the multi-use space. Elsewhere, recessed Ubik Combination and Ubik Cube luminaires add downlighting while effortlessly integrating into the ceiling, becoming part of a series of undulating forms.
Additional layers of light come from our Aera collection. Aera 2 Cylinder, with their slim profile, provide focused downlighting, while Aera 3 Downlight recessed square and round fixtures are arranged in linear patterns to deliver consistent illumination across open areas. With their low-glare optics and high-performance output, Aera luminaires contribute visual comfort without adding clutter. Together, these complementary collections balance architectural expression with performance, providing the warmth and energy required for a comfortable, collaborative workplace.
